Fraud Awareness

1. Introduction

"Stay protected. Awareness is your first line of defense."

As part of CAC Bank commitment to providing a secure banking environment, we remind you that fraudsters continuously develop their methods. Learn how they operate so you can stay protected at all times.

2. A Golden Rule

Very important notice:

You should know that CAC Bank does not, and will never, ask you to share your confidential information by phone, SMS, or email.

Information you must never share under any circumstances:

  • One-Time Passwords (OTP).
  • Card Personal Identification Number (PIN).
  • Your CAC Banki application password.
  • Your full bank card numbers.

3. Beware of Common Fraud Methods

Learn the tricks fraudsters use to target customers:

Phishing, including fake links:

Emails or SMS messages may contain links that appear to come from the Bank and ask you to "update your information" or "unfreeze your account".

  • Our advice: Do not click any suspicious link, and always verify the sender address.

Phone fraud, or vishing:

Fake calls in which the caller claims to be a bank employee or an official authority and asks for OTP verification codes under the pretext of "cancelling a suspicious transaction" or "receiving a prize".

  • Our advice: End the call immediately. The Bank never asks for verification codes over the phone.

Fake online stores:

Fraudsters may create fake shopping websites to steal your payment data or sell products that do not exist.

  • Our advice: Shop only from trusted merchants and never save your card details on unsafe websites.

4. Protection Tips by Service

When using ATMs

  • Inspect the machine: Make sure there are no unusual or protruding parts around the card slot, such as skimming devices.
  • Protect your PIN: Cover the keypad with your hand when entering your PIN to prevent hidden cameras or onlookers from seeing it.
  • Do not accept help: Refuse help from strangers at the ATM. If cash is not dispensed, press "Cancel" and wait until the main screen appears.

When using electronic banking services

  • Use secure access: Do not access the Bank website through links in search engines or emails. Type the address yourself.
  • Log out properly: Always click "Log out" when you finish, and do not rely only on closing the browser.
  • Keep applications updated: Download CAC Banki only from official app stores and keep it updated.

Card security

  • Do not write your PIN on the back of your card.
  • Activate SMS notifications to monitor any withdrawal or purchase made on your account immediately.
